Local Impact Funds

The Department of Planning and Development, along with the Chicago Department of Transportation, will co-host a virtual community meeting with Ald. Walter Burnett (27th), Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th) and Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) to gather feedback on community priorities for unused Local Impact Funds (LIF) in the West Loop neighborhood. This is a follow-up meeting to the September 2021 LIF community meeting.

The meeting will take place on Zoom at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022.  Registration is now open. Please register in advance here.

LIF is generated through the Neighborhood Opportunity Bonus, which enables developers of downtown construction projects to increase floor area in exchange for voluntary payments. LIF must be used for public works projects in the downtown area. The allocation of LIF is determined by DPD in consultation with the local alderman.

A draft presentation will be posted here in advance of the May 23 meeting. A community survey seeking feedback will also be available on the website on Friday, May 13.

Members of the public are invited to email questions for the meeting ahead of time to dpd@cityofchicago.orgward27@cityofchicago.org
ward25@cityofchicago.org, or ward28@cityofchicago.org.

Please send all questions by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022.
